چکیده

The enzymes are mostly proteins and are natural biocatalysts; they catalyze many anabolic and catabolic specific chemical reactions without itself undergoing any change in overall reaction. The temperature, pH, concentration of substrates and enzymes can affect their actions. The enzymes are useful in digestion, coagulation, tissue repair and numerous other life essential processes. The enzyme modulators are groups in two i.e. enzyme inhibitors and enzyme activators, bounds to enzymes either reversibly or irreversibly. The enzyme inhibitors are the molecules that correct a metabolic imbalance by reducing enzymatic activity, like selegiline inhibit MAO enzyme, decreases the metabolism of dopamine in brain and useful in the treatment of B depression and other panic disorders. However, the enzyme activators enhance enzymatic activity, such as tissue plasminogens activators activate the conversion of plasminogen to plasmin that digests fibrin, fibrinogen and other proteins and equally important to treat complicated diseases of heart.

Paraoxonase role in dyslipidemia in thyroid disease (review article)

Introduction: Thyroid disease e.g. hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and subclinical hypothyroidism are among the most common endocrine disorders. Dyslipidemia is prevalent in thyroid diseases and lipid oxidation due to oxidative stress play an important role in the pathogenesis of thyroid diseases. Antioxidant enzymes such as paraxonase have a protective role in these patients and their activit...

Influence of Fibrolytic Enzymes on the in vitro Hydrolysis and Fermentation of Different Types of Roughages Treatment

The effects of pre-treating different types of roughages with alkali on the efficacy of exogenous fibrolytic enzymes for improving their digestibility were studied in vitroin factorial arrangement 4 × 3 × 5 (enzyme, treatment and roughage types). Two fibrolytic feed enzymes novozyme (N) and celloclast (C) their combination (N+C) were evaluated for their potential to improve in vitrodegradation ...

Assessment of Streptococcus Salivarius ssp Thermophilus Antioxidant Efficiency and its Role in Reducing Paracetamol Hepatotoxicity

Background: Probiotics have attracted a great attention aiming to develop natural non-toxic antioxidants, because of their role in decreasing the risk of reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the antioxidant activity of a probiotic Streptococcus salivarius ssp thermophillus (St.sa) and to evaluate its protective effect against the ...

NEP, ACE and Homologues: The Pathophysiology of Membrane Metalloproteases

The zinc metalloprotease, neprilysin (NEP), plays a role in the metabolism of cardiovascular, inflammatory and neuropeptides, including mitogenic peptides such as bombesin. In the cardiovascular system, NEP has a primary role in the inactivation of natriuretic peptides but also contributes to local metabolism of angiotensin, endothelins and bradykinin. Hence NEP is seen as a potential therapeut...

The role of exogenous enzymes in promoting growth and improving nutrient digestibility in poultry

The value of dietary exogenous enzymes in promoting growth and efficiency of feed utilization is well recognized in poultry industry. In a case of high-cost yellow corn, several feed producers are choosing to replace yellow corn with other ingredients that have lower nutritional value like triticale, wheat, barley or sorghum. These crops are rich in non-starch polysaccharides (NSPs), and there ...
